They showed some pictures of Dodge's new bad-ass 2003 Dodge Ram SRT10 pick-up on Motor Trend TV today. All of a sudden even the Ford Lightning isn't so cool anymore. 8.3 liter V10 with 500 HP and a 6-speed manual: even if it gets detuned to 450 by the time it makes it to production, oh mamma. It left two long, perfect black rubber tracks as it left the line, a thing of beauty. I really need to marry a very rich woman. As an obscure Pennsylvania philosopher (known in certain circles as Powers) once said, "not being independently wealthy sucks."
Hey, I'm always running late for flights. I need the horsepower. I hope it has good brakes: by the time I hook 5th gear, I should be at National Airport.
If you like the Dodges..u dont have to wait to get power....just git the cummins diesel....and its easily tuned to 450hp/900ftlbs...and you can also tow whatever you like.
No way that would be as cool as the SRT10. I'm not at all a truck person. If it wasn't for the Lightning, I wouldn't own one. The L handles better than a lot of cars coming out of Detroit. I'm assuming Dodge will do the same with the SRT10. Otherwise I don't want it either. Let me put it this way: if a truck takes over 5.5 secs to get to 60, I don't want it unless it's free. I doubt any kind of diesel is going to do that. Oh, and the sound! Forget it.
Actually, with about $320 of mods, my L does it in about 5.0 (a post-2000 with a chip would most likely be somewhere around 4.8). I was just trying to be reasonable when I said I'd consider a 5.5 machine. Only if it handles. And doesn't sound like a tow truck.
tis alrite...diesels r not for everyone. I am sure the SRT10 would rock for a gasser. now if we could just git a diesel powered bike....hehe
Yeah, I think diesels are for people who like big stuff. If they built something as fast on a platform about the S10's size, I'd own that. I would have bought a GMC Syclone "back in the day" if I had any money. Not that I have any now, but at least i have credit!
There r a few of those dakotas running around with the cummins in them....turning 8's in the quarter. YIKES!!
Papa, If you get a SRT10 I'll be the first to mooch a trip to IKEA to pick up a couch from ya'. Who care if it if the stupid couch blows out on to 95! You NEED that truck!
To be serious for a second, if they really go with the aluminum Viper V10 I doubt I'll be able to take you to Ikea for another couple of years, unless a Lightning is good enough for you. I can't see how they could possibly sell that below $40K.
not d/c...Just sum folks with a few spare moments on their hands... If they did though...I would get one to toy wif.
Screw IKEA, I just want to be scared Sh@tless in a V10 pick-em-up. A measly V8 lightning just might do for that.
