After watching the live timing from Fontana it was interesting how far back the first Honda was in the 600 race. I know the group in Alabama are some pretty good builders and tuners and it has to be disheartening to be stuck with a good handling chassis but a turd for a motor. I'm thinking that if they were to enhance the motor a bit so they can be more competitive. Maybe allow them an FX build like the old days, or more cc's , ported head , a vac pump. I think the Kawi even is faster than a Honda , not as good of a chassis but probably more HP than the Honda. I'm guessing the all knowing guys on here could surely come up with some suggestions for Keith and the boys on how to help save the Honda's. I wonder if they already tried some of the stuff to enhance that turd , maybe there is no help for them. Maybe DMG could step up and level the playing field by helping them out ?
Why should DMG give Honda any special treatment ? The rules are the same for everybody, what do you think this is, MotoGP ?
WERA makes no concessions for the outdated Honda...don't know why DMG would. Maybe Honda should be the one to step up???
maybe Honda can pony up enough $ and offer Josh an apology for not getting him an SBK ride when he deserved it and he'd make the honda fast... As far as changing the rules? its all cyclical, it wasnt that long ago that Honda was dominating the FX and Supersport fields. Its someone else's turn at the top of the mountain until they build a package that racers will want to race (ie good to go right out of the box like the R6 currently is...)
it would not be a bad bike if it was not so gawd awful expensive to get power out of it. the chassis and weight are awesome on that bike. Only honda that i have ever liked, that i have owned.
Several years ago we had sponsorship from Honda in the form of 4 new bikes and all the parts we could use. It worked out great for the few WERA regionals we ran and all the TDs we could go to...but when it came time for the following year's WERA Nationals and knowing we would be competing against the R6, we opted to pay for the Yamahas and forego the free Hondas so we could be competitive, even with the HRC parts homologated for use. Honda needs to up it's game if they want to be competitive at the track, but it seems all they are interested in is what they can sell for the street which is a VERY solid package. JMO
as Turkish said in "Snatch" when asked by the inspector "what's in the car" .. (Turkish) "seats and a steering wheel.." In THAT instance, yes, the Hondas are the same as you stated. 2 wheels, underseat exhaust. yep.. same But have you seen some of the stuff and money that is spent on WSS bikes ? ? mega fast motors compared to DMG. Seen a YEC (yamaha) "wish list"? all that cool stuff? light stators, kit cams, changing trans gears, etc. So.. yea, just like DMG And Vandemark is a local rider, specialist if you will (and a hell of a rider). Kenan S. had a mechanical of some sort, Lowes is gone to the big bike class, i could go on. perhaps you were being sarcastic ..
Why is everyone always so quick to look to the sanctioning body or rule book instead of the OEM when a motorcycle is underperforming?
