    caferace No.

This needs to be on a big friggin' platinum plaque in plain view somewhere. The top tiers are brutal places. They are Jobs. Not always fun.

Hey...you missed the point...That is WHY those "Other Guys" won't show up...they can go contingency racing and make more than going to the AMA races.....

I was in agreement with you...stop arguing with me...or I will take the other side just to spite myself:D

I want a waffle, im going to the "waffle" house to get that waffle. When I get there I know the waffle will cost money. I will bring money to get the waffle.
I will pay for the waffle so I can eat it and fill my stomach. That is how you get a waffle, you pay for the waffle. When you pay for the waffle it tastes so much better. I could go to the waffle house and cry and scream and kick my legs but I wont get a waffle. Maybe, just maybe they will change the menu and offer waffles to the people that cry and scream and kick their legs but I dont think so.

I think I will just get the ALLSTAR with 3 eggs! Im gonna take my Aprilia to get an ALLSTAR with 3 eggs and a pecan waffle. Its my day off.....

I think the concept has merit, but unfortunately reality gets in the way. Somebody has to pay for it.

We are not. Club racing shouldn't pay starter money. Pro racing should.

That AMA doesn't makes them more club than pro.

You would be very very wrong in that assumption.

You needed to get out more then.
I believe you're faster now than you were. But you're not as fast as you could be if you'd spent that same budget on a lot more time with people as fast or faster than those you were racing in the back of the AMA grids.

I'm also not saying just club racing, there is more out there than staying at one track or even in one region.

Simple question anyone wanting to go pro should ask themselves - can you run with Tray Batey? If the answer is no then you need to reassess what you're doing.

agreed. baby steps. It will take time to grow the inflow of dollars at the series level so that this is feasible. Its pretty much a given that the backmarkers can't attract sufficient sponsorship on their own.

And whats the problem with that? I go I want money. Bottom line. Im not saying they should or will change it.. but I woulda liked some money. WHATS THE FUCKING PROBLEM WITH THAT? Wouldnt you like some extra money? No? Youve got plenty and would prefer not to make some more? Thats my only point. I have made money before, I wanted it again. THATS IT. End of story. I dont think im entitled by any means, just would hav liked to make some more. Undebatable.

You're saying everyone should get their feel good happy money - that isn't pro racing. In the instance that started all this, the 20th place person for the weekend got paid. Only 5 riders did not. So they paid down through 80% of the grid.

Not sure what the last line meant...

Yes, but this is a public forum. You're also venting to the plumber taking a break from computer porn, the housewife that just got done watching Dr. Phil, and a truck driver sitting in some shithole parking lot in boofoo Kentucky (me).

The problem is you think you deserve it - when you don't. You don't deserve anything, you either earn it or you don't. You didn't earn it because you weren't fast enough.

You could have easily made money again - if you'd gone faster. Is that really so hard to understand?

If the AMA paid show money for all qualifiers I think it would be great. More power to them and to the riders. However saying they should makes no sense. Saying you deserve something you didn't actually earn makes no sense.

When I go to a club race there is only one or two Bateys. At a AMA round...every corner has a Batey.

When I go to a club race and walk up to Toye to ask the only other guy in the pits with a Honda some advice....I am met with a tight tongue. At a AMA round I have teams walking up to me giving me advice on setup and other racers more than willing to share advice. There is just way more experience floating around the AMA paddock then there is a at a club race.

Budget:crackup: Honestly Mongo...it costs me less or the same to race the AMA than it does a club race and if I so happen to make it into the top 20 (get this) I get paid 3k!!

Look I dont want you or anyone to take this the wrong way. Wera West by far has the most talent at the club level than any other org and they run the tightest ship in club racing. I am thankful that you guys are doing what you do and I am a avid fan/supportitive of Wera.

Exactly - so why if you can't even run close to one do you think you need to be in the way of a dozen or more of them?

Again - I am not talking about club racing, you are. I am talking about pro/am racing. Please pay attention.
If it costs you the same to run a national series as it does to go club racing then you're doing one or both very very wrong.

Go to a WERA or ASRA Nat and beat Jeff, Eric, Robbie, Scott and whoever else and make money. That will accomplish your goal, having fun and making money! Nobody said you had to go race AMA/DMG Pro to "have fun and make money", you chose to go there and race. You come on here bitching, dropping F bombs and TYPING IN CAPS, then Roger E or a potential sponsor reads it, you look like a douche` and could be blackballed by AMA Pro and a potential sponsor!! I agree with Mongo on this one.

i actually do agree with that %100. if the guys like skip stop showing up because they cant afford it....whatever...., the process will only weed out other fast guys. (hey!!! that sounds like nascar!!!) the guys who dont qualify are the ones who should go home empty handed. thats how it should be i think. even if its 500 bucks. the hotel and gas wording was metaphoric.

in reality, on average, how many riders show up and dont make the 108%?

i know when i started short track racing, i wanted to get better after the first event. that event i was eliminated in the heat races. other new people got frustrated and pissy cuz they didnt make it. they got knocked down, or crashed. or just suck. (like me) but not making the semis, and going home, actually made me want to be better at it. i still only make the semis sometimes. rarely the finals. but getting to be part of the "show" makes me come back for more. i have gridded up with plenty of ama flat track pros on either side of me at the local club level. sometimes its frightening the names you see. its a real kick in the nuts when i pay out the same as everyone, i packing my gear after the first heat, and my buddies are still making changes to the bikes. not because i cant afford it, its super cheap racing, but because i want to be out there. and sometimes, i'm better than they are and i know it. its what makes me want to get faster and better at short track racing. that and i want my $$ worth. not because i ever actually stand a chance of winning. im happy to make the top 50%. thats a good night for me

thats what makes wera great. you can show up at a national, and fight it out with some of the best out there every single weekend. and if the best are racing for midpack, they arn't getting paid crap either!
