Not worried about theft at home, just my children's safety... From each other, they go together like a lit match and a pool of gasoline... and from anyone else. I want something live and likely stored for a bit. And I can yell at them remotely before bodily harm occurs. Monitor when I need via Droid or iOS I read these threads but they are not what I'm looking for: http://forums.13x.com/showthread.php?t=322409 http://forums.13x.com/showthread.php?t=321627 http://forums.13x.com/showthread.php?t=322409 One Google search leads me to NEST/Dropcam Pro http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-wireless-ip-camera/ and http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2475954,00.asp http://securitycamerawifi.com/best-wireless-ip-camera-system-2014-reviews/ seems to confirm it Any thoughts? TIA!
I'm kinda in the same boat, really wanna lean towards the IP cameras but many don't have the 2 way feature that you may be seeking. Just yesterday I saw an advertisement for a brand I haven't heard of, 'Blink'....Seems like a decent concept and one of the cheaper priced ones I've seen but I don't think it has the 2 way feature. http://blinkforhome.com/
Been using a couple of these, no monitoring fees and 24hrs of data storage. All operable from the iOS app. http://www.amazon.com/ImogenStudio-...d=1434941779&sr=8-2&keywords=imogenstudio+cam
I've had good luck with d-link. Have them in both kid's rooms. I don't have any with two-way audio, but I think they make it. Remote viewable via phone app is very handy. I also have a synology disk station that can hook up to them and do recording on motion detection.
My wireless Foscam stuff supposedly has two way audio but honestly I've never played with it sorry. It does work well via wifi in the house and over the webs when outside the house on all my computers and toys.
Yep, I am happy. I can yell at the kids remotely (loudly even), wide field of view. Good image from my perspective (nothing like my DSLR though). Setup was super simple. If you do mac filtering, yeah another one to add and that is it at network level. You can turn off the lights on the camera so that someone looking at the camera is not aware it is on. Can set up a schedule. Has "night vision". Can hear sound well. The interface to control is is pretty simple, intuitive, and slick. Pay attention to the repeat function when setting up schedules - very helpful. Haven't played with the alerts yet. I'm significantly happy.
Looking at the Nest site, looks like they're trying to sell you server time with it. Is there any other way to save video history other than paying them $100/yr for 10 day history?
Doubtful... even their t-stats are cloud based. You dont send commands directly to it even if you're on the same wifi network.
Thnx guys, that takes Nest off my list. I think I'm going to order two of those Blink units, before they're prices go up after their release.
Correct I went with Nest. Since I am not worried about anything being recoded, it was quality and field of view. I was not happy about the storage configuration and cost either, but that was not a primary goal for me - so I am not purchasing that alternative service at this point. Just trying to gather information and share my experience with my purchase.
Local to cards, haven't really played with uploading to the office server but I do need to. They're more for my peace of mind being able to check on things than the security aspect, have an alarm for that part.
I've been reading around on the stuff for a couple days. Looks like wired 1080p cams are available now and can be wired with cat5e to a POE switch for one wire hook up. Thinking I may venture down this path and record on a networked raid 1 storage unit. Still reading...
Bump. I want something to keep an eye on the dogs. I like this one with the pan/tilt/zoom option. Anyone have any experience? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/d-link-...hite/5619743.p?id=1218672938185&skuId=5619743
Silly stupid easy: http://www.microseven.com/product/IP-Cameras-M7B57-WPS.html No pan or tilt though.
