What would help about as much as anything (and a lot of riders do this) would be if the riders would take a moment to locate their date stamp and be ready to throw the tech person a bone if they're struggling to find it. Some riders even hand me the helmet while holding the liner back with a finger so I can see where the sticker is. Very considerate of their time and everyone else's. For very common helmets such as HJC, Shoei, Arai, even Bell, this isn't that big a deal. We see so many of those we pretty much know where to look. It's the Euro-spec helmets that tend to be more difficult. Sometimes I cheat a bit if it has a Snell 2015 label on it (for example). Since manufacturers were forbidden to produce helmets for sale with that standard before it went into effect (on October 15, 2015), it's a cinch that such a helmet is less than 5 years old.
