But instead of fining them and making them put in sharps boxes, my idea is the have to hire a large dude to sit the bathrooms and if someone trys to shoot up, the dude cracks their skull with a bat.

Who gives a shit? Make it all legal and things will sort themselves out. Most of the OD's are coming from black market shit with questionable ingredients. If it were legit, you could actually have reliable dosing and it wouldn't be that bad - no different than alcoholics or smokers.

 

I say let them OD, then eventually their numbers will reduce. Narcan only for those who accidentally come in contact with it(K9's, Cops, little kids, etc). None of this bullshit saving some junkie.

The people that OD are still people. Further without the addiction they might even be good people. I don't have the answer and started this thread because of the contrast of over priced coffee and snobbery and the need for drug safety disposal. as a teenage skater in parking garages, i encountered what the most Heroin-flooded city in Germany had to offer a lot: needles. everywhere. got to talk to some junkies too. most of them brutally honest, often coming from a good life situation, got hooked, stuff was too good, ended up surrendering everything and their dignity for the shot. and advised me to stay far far away from it.

god, i'd hate my life if i ever stumbled into a used needle. good on starbucks to put up containers.


after watching Narcos and the *cough*laugh* war on drugs - all i can say is: remove the root cause and not the symptom. why do people shoot up poison aor sniff it up their noses? because it's effin great. much greater than what real life has to offer to them.
give them a higher purpose, connection and dedication to something they love and people don't gravitate to that shit. but large parts of the population are hooked on crap, TV, cheap food, porn, etc. so hard drugs are only the third step (after weed, painkillers, alcohol and other entry level crap).
