Ford 5.4 engine cam phasers Ugh :(

Do the 5.4 32v intech motors have issues with the plugs too?

 

Took it by my muffler shop today to see if they thought it was exhaust manifolds. Nope. Definitely something cam or cam chain related. Machine shop wants $2,800 to replace cam phasers and spark plugs. Ford dealer wants $2,700 for cam phasers only. I guess I'm gonna drive this POS into the ground while its still ticking

 

Have you got full coverage on it ? Maybe it could catch fire or something.

 

That would have been ideal

Traded it in on a new 2017 F150. Got barely anything for it. Not sure why I keep buying Fords.

 

What did they give you on your trade....just curious. Blue book on these trucks seems low, but try to go buy one for blue book!

 

Without the cam phaser issue, the truck was probably worth $5-$7K on Craigslist. They gave me 3, which is OK with me. I know its peanuts, but the $3K impending repair pretty much wiped out what little value the truck had.
