I was standing right next to the videographer for most of Fujio and Chuck's starting and warm-up in this video. Fujio actually adjusted the throttle cable a bit after revving it a few times. The sidecar pushed behind at 57 seconds didn't start right a way, so Richard Moore, Bill Harakitas and I pushed it a second time while they wre pulling the bike out of the tent. I knew I was watching a legend in action. The four of us on the right, just before they began firing it up: (File too large.)
Daniel came up to the Loudon paddock back in 1996. He was filming The Crucible at the time so he looked kind of scruffy with a beard and all. He was riding a yellow Triumph that Tom Fournier had sold him. He wanted to lay low, so no pictures were taken, and we were to address him as Danny. By the time he left on Sunday, nobody outside of Center Garage 6 ever recognized him. He was a good guy.
