When it comes to bailouts, you have to look deeper.

For the sake of easy math, let’s use $200,000,000 “bailout” money, and we will use Delta Airlines, because Delta has about 100,000 employees.

Sure, they could take that 200 million and “help the working people” and just give that money directly to the people. That would mean each person would get $2,000. How long do you think that would last?

Or they give Delta that $200mil and keep the company afloat. THEN Delta can keep those 100k people employed.

People always make comments about the “greedy CEO’s” and the “big bad corporations”. But where do you think most of the jobs come from?

Can you imagine the uproar if Walmart asked for a bailout. People would go apeshit. They’d be all about “what about the little man”.

But Walmart employs 2.2 million people. So if Walmart needs a bailout to keep operational, and to keep those people employed, so be it.

Disclaimer: I don’t know the financial situations of Delta and Walmart, I was just making examples.

 

I agree you can't distribute the same amount of money to all the people vs the employer, but that's only part of the story. Walmart employs 2.2 million people mostly below livable wage as noted in the comment above you liked. Then, Walmart (any public corp) will turn around and use that bailout to retain only the number of employees they need to remain competitive while using the real bulk of the money to sure up their stock price. The point of corporate bailouts to push the market up and protect that money, not make sure the corporation retains jobs in the US.

A lot of them were doing okay, maybe not living a spectacular life but making enough to pay their bills
and feed their kids and go out to eat now and then or take the kids to a movie, and then someone made
them stop working. How does that speak badly of the people who want to work but aren't being allowed?
