Apparently my computer has aquired a rather nasty Virus that won't allow it to go to the trend micro , microsoft or any other website that offers antivirus software. Is there any way to locate and get rid of it? Looking at the proccesses running i don't see anything abnormal, but the computer is constantly redirecting links I click on to spam sites. Any Idea's?

pickled egg There is no “try”

    Safe mode won't help.

I'd guess the Hosts file has been infected. Nuke that mo-fo and see if you can get outside the spamnet.

I think malwarebytes is one of the better ones.

Has saved me numerous times. Boot from it, it loads an XP shell that has an AV program. Try that.

^that. the best way to nuke a virus is to deal with it before it has a chance to start running and in a manner that will keep it from infecting the anti-virus program trying to kill it.

Now that it's fixed, go buy yourself a mac and forget about the vast majority of spyware and viruses.
