I, Nick Cesar, have finally completed one of my proposed projects, it's all about the hamiltons gotta make sho i have extra cheese to grill, know what I'm sayin?
This thing is making around 20lbs. of thrust. Make sure to watch all the videos, the first one doesnt get to full throttle :) .

Few things to clarify first, the propane tank is there for starting and warming up the engine there is a Bosch fuel pump set up in the back pumping diesel through an 8.5gph Semi-Solid 80° spray Hago Oil Burner Nozzle that's in the intake.

    Enjoy!!!!!

First Run (over throttled to rich extinction) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZ2sPAwcxDU
    Second Run

    Third Run (really hot run!)

Fourth Run (another beatifully hot piece of stainless)

    Fifth Run (business end view)

Sixth Run (like fifth, but includes a flame out and you can see the thrust measuring springs slack up after the thrust ends and a big diesel flame comes out)

Nick, Make sure after you run it and it cools down, CHECK IT FOR CRACKING.

EVERY TIME....No--- I FORGOTS, or Next time, EVERY single run.

    Good job getting it running...:)

I'll consider that pretty cool as long as I dont read any posts about someone needing medical help or a place to lay low until the cops stop coming around. :D Hey Britt, I need some advice on bending aluminum. Care if I shoot you a PM?

I've got a small pocketbike frame :D with a tank that I've welded, er gorilla bubble gummed together (it's not that bad, cant expect much from a fluxcore weld).

I'm going to get a water injection system and maybe some nos for the jet and see how it does with those.

    9mil Yea, that's right

Just built a water injection system for my turbo, not difficult at all...CoolingMist is a big supplier and direct competition to AquaMist and they are right here in the ATL- they gots all the connectors that are actually quite hard to find....and how exactly would you sit on that thing?

2 words on bending Alum, Pioneer Machine. Probably the best machine shop I have seen and the owner, Lanny is very intelligent. Maybe I can get to the track next year.

Good job, Nick. How are you determining thrust levels? Perhaps a run or two on the test stand might be in order.

    Dear Mr. Von Braun, Jr.:

Please call me after you sear your package off. I have an interesting law suit in mind.

And I suggest banking some sperm if you are thinking about breeding, not that I think you actually should ever breed.

  16. todzuki

    todzuki got OBS?

That's so cool! Any idea how much thrust it produces? Could make a bitchin RC plane. Or a sweet clubman powerplant. (oxymoron)

Very cool. Somehow I don't think your principal will let you use it as a science fair project.

By getting the steel that hot repeatedly, it's got to change the properties of the metal. How many runs do you think you can do until failure?

He's playing with fire.. literally. But if he checks the welds every single time he runs it and stays a safe distance away (wleds away from spectators) he'll be ok. Weld seam rupture in the cone... no biggie but could be fun to watch

The correct material for this is a high temp stainless such as 309 or 310 for a budget. The ultimate would be waspalloy or one of the other high-temp Ni Alloys or one of the Ti beta alloys if you could snag some.

Not everyone as access to GE's storeroom!

    Nice job Nick.

How far away would you say that propane tank was, 4-5 feet? Yeah, definitely get the failure on tape! :D
