The Mad Men thread got me thinking...there has been some really good TV in recent times. Some of the shows these days are what I call 'movie quality' shows. I know, many movies suck, but I never even considered TV shows as serious, high-quality fare until The Sopranos woke me up. Early Chicago Hope, ER, and Hill Street Blues came close (maybe HSB was in this league actually), but most TV was horrible or at best, light. New TV that is really good... Best Episode Ever: Last episode of Six Feet Under. Nothing else I've ever seen is close. Honorable Mention: Last episode of Season 2 of Weeds Best Show Today: Breaking Bad Honorable Mention: Mad Men
I loved "Kings" on NBC, one of the better TV shows I've seen in a while but it only made it one season
-Entourage I enjoyed the whole series of six feet under. I think it was the only one that ended without me saying "Fuck, that sucked". Others should try to pattern this finale.
Rescue Me. The season prior to the writer's strike was a bit of a let down but it came back stronger than ever. This past season was brilliant.
