I know not of the downtown scene but a stop at Nachos and Beer on the way to Lake Lure is recommended.

Oak Park Inn, in Waynesville, NC

Stay there every year. Great people. Super nice. Good restaurants in town you can walk to. Central to all good routes. Can not recommend enough.

We stay in Maggie Valley when we go down there to ride. Shitty old motel called the tanglewood.

Yeah, that place is pretty magical. Their little speakeasy was cool, but I don't think it survived the 'vid. I could sit at that bar all day drinkng G&T and eating whatever food they put in front of me. In fact, I have.

I blame the douchebag finance guys for most of the damage to the nice places. Had a couple of jackass tech guys ruin a perfectly good beer patio for me last weekend in Highlands. Even worse, they loudly and proudly told everyone they were from Atlanta. Made me want to claim to be Canadian!

Actually located in Fletcher only 2.5 miles from FOX in case you need your mountain bike forks/shock overhauled while having some brews.

Was up there a couple years ago to see a client play at Ambrose West (Willy Porter) on Haywood Road in I guess, technically West Asheville? Anyway, got an airbnb for $150 for the night within walking distance. Walked to a cool spot for dinner, walked to the gig, walked to another place for beers, walked back to airbnb. Was a fun night.

It has been a while ago but I can remember the balcony room on the top floor of the Grand Hotel in Nashville in the arbortorium was that much for a sweet. At the time if I was married and looking for a stonkin' get away (anniversary or such) I would have. But riding through
