They will have a second hour hand that can be set what ever time zone you want

All depends on how we look at it. Your 2k oris will be a $500 oris in 10 year . The 30k Patek will be a 30k Patek in 10 years.

Family heirloom, mid 70’s Rolex President 36mm, gold with black face. Wrong band on it already so I’m thinking black leather band (20mm) with gold Rolex buckle. Not going to spend 4K on a Rolex gold band and I figure a nice black band would make it a pseudo dress watch. What band options would the beeb aficionados recommend?

 

In my opinion..something that exudes that much 70's awesomeness must have a shiny croc band...maybe a brown or better yet something in a merlot.

Did you get the gold chain or did that go down another branch of the family?

I’d get on TRF (The Rolex Forums) and get some help. There will be folks there who know what is period correct and what would make a good replacement.

 

Alligator all day. Day Dates and datejusts look great on any leather but that watch is pretty ornate so it deserves a little flash.
