I'm sure it was more difficult to find a deep spot in the trench than actually constructing the watch... but records are records. I'm sure Omega paid a hefty sum to have their watch strapped to the submersible.
I love dive watches, but at some point the depth ratings have gotten ridiculous. Pretty much any decent watch with a 200m rating will be just fine for the diving that most of us do. Sure, professionals and technical deep divers might need something more, but they are the minority. All that being said, seeing the Engineering in top shelf dive watches is cool.
On the wrist today. Rolex 6694 Oysterdate Precision. Blue dial and silver Roman numerals. Smaller (34) than the 40-42mm sizes I normally wear but still wears well.
I added a new pocket watch to my collection. It's a J.N. Masters Rye. I can't find much info on it because it's a defunct British watchmaker. If anyone has any info on it I would love to know more.
This doesn't fit with some of the fine swag I've seen on this thread, but I have a Seiko my wife gave me 17 years ago, hasn't really worked in a while. Put in a new battery and it kinda works for a few weeks and then dead again. I sent it in to Seiko to get a repair estimate - $185. The watch cost more than that, but I'm not sure if it's worth it to fix for that much. Any thoughts or suggestions? Or just consider it a goner? (BTW there is a used one on eBay for $75 right now ha ha)
I'd say if its a watch your wife bought you, you should keep it and not replace it (even if its a like model) . I know $185 is decent coin, but it has value beyond the dollar amount.
This is what 30 years of service can get you with my company. Me likey!!! I haven't bothered to set the time or date yet because I can't even wear it until I figure out how to remove about 4 links. This bracelet is Mongo sized!
Sitting at a bar on vacation while the wives went shopping and mine showed up with these for me. I guess I'll keep her!
Very nice! I keep telling myself that I am done buying watches but part of me really lusts after a Rolex or even a Tudor like one of those.
