Revised many partial finger amputations from dog bites over the years, but only one where the dog actually ate the digit afterwards.....

That's only because Dachshunds can't bite off fingers. Those little guys will eat anything that hits the floor. Mine's eaten a paper towel, an onion, the stem ends of carrots/tomatoes/etc, and just about anything else you can imagine dropping in the kitchen.
