300s in ESS?

I heard that 300s can run in ESS class?
I know it says in rulebook only up to 250.
Does anyone know if this is true?

The rulebook clearly states 300s w/snorkel, 250s without.

 

300's are legal in ESS but you have to run wooden wagon wheels.

 

From what I've seen the 300 arent all that fast.

 

Some of us just do it.
