You must just be itching for a fight today. First, you kinda agreed with my point that "sponsors shouldn't expect millions of viewers, but they also don't have to pay as much as to sponsor a nascar team, it's all ROI, " I never made any comment with respect to the professionalism of the teams and riders. That should be a given. I also never made any comment with regard to catering to the current demographic. I stated that the demographic is different than top level car racing and so sponsors should have different expectations. I never suggested that there shouldn't be an effort to expand the current demographic or to try and entice more sponsorship from outside the motorcycle industry and suppliers. It is not my place to try and tell teams and riders who they should go after, that is up to them and the ones that are making the effort, and good at it, are having some results. But, there have been some losses, like where is Broaster Chicken these days?
Still out there sponsoring riders instead of sponsoring a full team. Smart use of their sponsorship cash.
Is it though, when people are asking where they are? “They’re still there, you just haven’t noticed them” doesn’t sound like the greatest marketing line ever
Just read that jason aguilar is not racing in 2021. Edit: here's the link: https://motoamerica.com/jason-aguilar-wont-be-racing-in-2021/
No news, the rumor was they were getting a 2021 bike and going after a South African superbike rider. That was months ago, idk whats going on now
He was over at our house a couple weeks ago and told me this. I'm really bummed for him. I didn't want to say anything on here, and hoped he maybe able to get something worked out. Unfortunately, he sold all his R6 stuff so he can't even go back to that for the 21 season.
Because the numbers of impressions aren't remotely the same. The numbers of hardcore follow the sponsors fans aren't the same. Basically the ROI is different for bikes, it can be done similarly but if you go to a current NASCAR/INDY sponsor they're going to want those levels of return and that will never ever happen. You need to go after less "normal" sponsors who understand different sports and are willing to work with this sport being different than car racing.
Expecting an ROI is fine, but the fans aren't the same as car fans. Hence the different demographic. The best thing MA can do is get/keep the OEM's on board (brand names or like a lot of them their subsidiary parts or lubricants companies) as well as aftermarket suppliers, without support from inside the industry you will never get it from outside the industry. BTDT and got shot down.
Oh absolutely were on the same page, I was never talking about them offer the same thing that nascar does, hell Indy can't even do that. I was talking about going outside the box, for companies and showing the value that you can offer when it comes to exposure.
My point with the demographic was that they need to support the demographic they have while not catering to them, because they are already there they are already watching. Moto america could do a lot to reach more ranges of people.
Such as what? I've had people say that same exact thing for decades, still can't get a viable answer.
At this point social media marketing directed at women would be a good start, simple and not overly expensive. Doing things that showcase how family friendly the race track is, is another. Most people have zero idea, or they expect it to be restricted like nascar which it's not as you know.
They have tons of social media exposure and do cover all aspects including female racers but it's not all just directed at women, guess they could do more porn type shots of the male racers but seems like that'd be sexist and backfire. They do promote the family friendly stuff and even have gone out of their way to make it even better for kids than the series used to be. That has all been advertised and promoted.
