Just out of curiosity can parts still be sourced from Honda for that? Or is everything pretty much unobtanium?
Some can. The community is great and you can find parts online. Some 3rd parties also make stuff like carb seals, pistons and sleeves. Kind of like the FZR400.
I built one of these and the community around these bikes is VERY strong. I had a great deal of fun on this bike on the track and many race organizations still have a class where they will fit. fair warning though, if you have no impulse control like me, you can spend a fair bit on some exotic parts for it from Denmark/Thailand etc....
TYGA has the holy grail of NC30 parts : the lightweight PVM wheels, which would have been the ultimate upgrade if I ever went vintage racing with it.
Don't worry, there are plenty of us that will make a strong low ball offer for a TZ. hahahaha The more I race against them in Open 2 Stroke (AHRMA) the more I want one.
Saw it at the track, when those last pics were taken. You guys think its nice in picture... you'd unload yourselves seeing it live !!! Going down to Florida (maybe Barber too) end november/december. Might be able to help out if anyone in the East coast takes it.
The 5 inch rear won't work unless you offset the swingarm. It's also on par weight wise when you move up in tire size along with it. There is some savings but not a ton. The front wheel however is worth the effort. I have the HRC Magtek on the rear of mine with a Dymag on the front. We weighed the stock rear versus the HRC Magtek and there apparently is just enough magnesium in it to call it a magnesium wheel. We are talking a few ounces lighter than the stocker. This is a great specimen though and should be added to someone's collection.
Kicking this up, if anybody is going to the VRRA Vintage Festival at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport) on August 5-6-7, I can make arrangements for delivery.
