I have just turned 45k on my 1000 and have been checking the valves every 10k miles and they have always been in spec. Well, I know the motors getting tired, I can feel it. I don't abuse it, but I sure as hell don't baby it. It almost seems to me that the valves are sounding like they are getting loose and making a little noise. I guess my question is what kind of luck have you guys had with the valves on these motors? Have you had to do adjustments often? Not very? Any of you guys take a motor further than this? I'm almost getting to the point of starting to worry about the crank and/or connecting rod bearings too. Suggestions... Recomendations...
Leak down test Do a compression test on it, if one or more are low, that will explain your power loss. I have seen them burn valves at miles lower than you have stated, I have also seen them go way past the miles you mentioned. Does it idle ruff when it is cold? and then get better as it warms up Hope this helps
