Well, since Expert 317 said he put his '02 triples into '03 stem, I'm guessing the bearing OD is the same.

I dont know how that works.suzuki microfish say upper and lower bearing is 30x55x17.this is same size as gsxr.
old sv has 25x47 upper bearing.
that is what microfish say,I did not see forks apart on 03.

Maybe 317 likes a "loose" front end...

I guess I'll find out soon for myself. I'm still negotiating for another motor- if I get it I'll be building 2 bikes and selling one.

    Loose Morals maybe!

Loose morals maybe;) but loose front, never!I just went to double check. The 02 has a tapered stem, but I took the bearings of the 03 stem, put the on the 02 stem, and installed that on the 03 frame.Fix was perfect,no slop.
Zoran, you're scaring me with all this naked and stiff talk:Poke:

Yes, and I checked twice.I do not have the fische, but the ones I have are, and I have 2 2003s a SV and SVS. And two lower tripples from some 02s.The 03 has a larger diameter stem, and different lower, but everything else is about the same.

you got me lost here.03 stem is larger diameter but 02 stem fits in same bearing?
do you know what is ID and OD of 03 upper bearing?

The stem itself is a larger diameter. The bearings are the same as the 02.Someone walked off with my micrometer, so I can't give you #s

    puresportsdesigns Yea, I guess

to end the controversy, I have installed 99 GSXR750 forks on my 03 and it took all of 5 miuntes to do. I used the stock GXSR triples and stock SV bearings.

Keep that under your hat, ok? ;) ;) :D

Are ya'll not going to run the SS class?

  12. puresportsdesigns

    puresportsdesigns Yea, I guess

no, I'm gonna run SB. That way Bradley Champion can still take first place in Suzuki Cup races. :D :D :Poke: (like I have a chance of seeing him after turn 3)

I'm going to focus on endurance with a few national sprints.

how did you than put 02 stem in there without changing bearing?

  15. puresportsdesigns

    puresportsdesigns Yea, I guess

    I didn't use an 02 stem. I used a 99 GSXR 750 triple clamp/stem and the 03 SV bearing.

    sorry for the confusion

that Q was for expert 317.
I know gsxr and 03 sv use same bearing.
I dont know how 317 got 02 sv stem in there.

I did not install the 02 into the 03.I put the 02 bearings and tripple into the 03 frame to see if it fix.I did not put the top clamp on.

I'm just learning about the SV's so bare with me. I'm used to the 2 strokers. Are you changing the front ends due to lack of comp/rebound?

I have an 03 that we are planning on doing the entire endurance series..I also have a complete 99 GSXR 600 front end. Am i able to just install the the triples and forks or do I need to modify stem length or anything? Which wheel would I use? the GSXR 600 or the SV?

Anybody have any recommendations for alum. subframes also?

    Thanks
    Chris
