Both were soulless and bland, though I admit I didn't try to race either, though valve-lash adjustment was a lot easier than shim-under-bucket. I too vote with the GSXR-750 as being the perfect factory production motorcycle.
While souless and bland, the CBR600F was the first middleweight that was really easy to go fast on with minimal changes. I raced the FJ600, GPZ550 and VF500F prior to the CBR and it was so much better than them, on the track.
