Wouldn't you say there is a bit of a lemming effect on those literally OUTRAGED because one kneels during a national anthem?....

    Outraged!

I don't just get the fuss....

Outrage, yes I agree as something like that should not control your life. However if I walk into a store and they insult me I likely won't be back. If I walk into a church and am called the devil, I likely won't be back. The NFL is insulting my country and many fine people in it, see no reason to continue to support such a business. Am I a 100% boycott person, no. But I also just get antenna stuff. Also I have been watching less and less as it is just not that entertaining anymore. I did drop out of fantasy football as I really wanted no reason to watch the train wreck.

I've never watched football on TV, but if I did I'd quit.

This. I tire of my values, ethics and morals constantly being under attack, especially when it comes from a recreational activity........when all I want is less government interference, living a good moral life and knowing that this country is the best in the world for a litany of reasons over our history. Like SoB said, when a business insults me, I don't want to go back. Penzy's Spices in Cedarburg is owned by an unhinged liberal who point blank said if you voted for Gov Walker in Wisconsin, I don't want you stepping foot in my stores. New Glarus Brewery, same thing. Deb Carey hosted fund raisers for Barrett and other lefties at her brewery and made disparaging comments about Conservatives. Why should I support anything that A) Hates my very existence, and B) makes it well known what they think of me and the collective "us"? The NFL should be an escape from life, as all entertainment and sports should be. But when they take sides regarding the anthem, gun control (Costas) and other stuff they have no business sticking their nose in, I just don't want to reward that behavior.

All of us racers can't even find much common ground where VR46 and MM93 are concerned...and the only topic at hand is racing. Now imagine if everyone who tried offering a race direction perspective simply got shouted down to pick a rider or shut up. This is American politics.

And it should stay in the political realm, not entertainment.

Nike just played a bunch of SJW who hate socialism by having them now buy a bunch of their crap, made by kids and women for $0.20 an hour, due to "social injustice". The stupid is so strong with the left......

I think Kaepernick is misguided, but I don’t get the outrage over it. I think the outrage is hypocritical. The NFL uses jingoistic nationalism to sell their stupid product. Other people use their use of jingoistic nationalism to sell other shit like their political beliefs. The NFL invites that with their flag waving, tough shit for them. Tough shit for Kaepernick that he’s causing too much trouble to get a job in football. I believe in freedom all around for everyone, not just freedom to express a view that I agree with. I 100% support people’s right to free speech, and also their employer’s right to fire them if they don’t like it. I think, sadly, most people these days predicate what freedoms they support based on the viewpoint being expressed.

Look into how singing the national anthem at sporting events even started. The whole practice is a marketing tool for the sport, not something patriotic.

And now their chosen marketing is to slam America. Despite rain I watched less than 1/2 hour of football, it is just not that interesting anymore. Part is all the cool things available, 3D printer, designing new house, and not one but two Shelties :flag: but the rest is the announcers and the crap they talk about. Add in the penalties and injuries every two minutes and well watching the Shelties chase is much more entertaining.
Free speech was for political speech in particular. If you are told to shut up and mind that is your own fault. I do notice that you did not own up to being a Fenati13 fan :Poke:

Unfortunately, in this case, any publicity can be turned into positive publicity. As soon as this Nike issue broke the news there were so many right leaning companies, cities, and political figures that started acting irrational by publicly banning Nike products Nike sales just had to go up. Sure enough, they have. People like Kapernic (spelling?) are simply looking for attention and sure enough, people started raising so much hell about his actions that he has all the attention that he wanted. I'll swear, people are their own worst enemy.

I'm still not sure I see the marketing genius displayed by offending 50% of your possible customers in the US.
Sales are up now because some people want to make a point, but will they stay up long term?

I doubt the 'Easily Offended' represent more than 5% of their world market.

Mindewe, I'll admit I have nothing more to back my percentage evaluation that you do yours...

How about spending less money on your pet project and selling your product at a reasonable price? Or using American workers instead of foreign slaves? Companies should sell products not promote agenda's. Of course those that chose the second prosper while they ride the trend.... of course trends change.

I really can't imagine that a 132 billion dollar multinational company could accrue accurate, real-time, one week sales figures from every global vendor, collate, and accurately compare those figure to same store sales from last year.

    I just don't buy it.

With the percentage of sales that would be from online vendors or from nike.com direct, I'd bet they have some pretty accurate, damn near real-time sales projections happening.

Edit: and I presume brick & mortar inventory are already considered "sold" so far as Nike corp. is concerned.
