Song "Lady Madona" ( Lady Madonna, baby at your breast Wonders how you manage to feed the rest Pa pa pa pa, See how they run)
I work in aerospace and following that theme someone gave us rocket science for babies from that series for my wife’s baby shower. It’s actually pretty cool.
I guess you ain't that old, then. My boss claims that his kid said to him, "You mean Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings?"
Getting back to the National Lampoon, in one issue they published a picture of Lynyrd Skynyrd with the caption, "Band On The Runway".
I can appreciate what they did,but I was never in it.My music is more violent, and or strange. Im guilty of listening to what speaks to me,but the Beatles are THE Beatles, and nobody can knock what they accomplished. Im pushing up the ass end of 50 so I don't really fit into my crowds listening tastes.Im just a weirdo
It's hard to appreciate what the music meant unless you were there witnessing the innovations unfold in real time. As far as Beatlemania, you'd have to see some old footage of the Beatles in corcert or on the Ed Sullivan Show the first time they came to America. You could barely hear the music because all the girls in the audience were screaming their heads off non-stop. That is the point of the Lampoon Ad.
Damn. I hope someone loses his job over that and his kids are aborted. Even if they’re in the thirty-third trimester.
It's one of those "you had to be there" things....The Beatles just blew up the whole R&R thing. All the sudden music was a hot topic, not just something that happened in the back ground. Of course the kids always were into tunes but then it became something that got talked about on the nightly news. I remember Dad's comments about their hair...If only he knew what I had in store for him just 6 years later..... Mom thought I looked like a blonde Jesus.
They suspended one kid (fourth grade!) for playing/singing “Twist and shout” at recess. I am sure his four much older brothers (all musicians) coached him some, as it was a hot topic...
