1974 Honda MR50 as a Christmas present in 73. Still have it, came from the dealer I work for now. Every kid in the neighborhood learned to ride on this bike. 1979 XR 80 1982 YZ 80
Ironically enouogh for the first one.... CZ 175 scrambler - POS (always broken, no money = learned basic mechanic fast!) GS400 - Great learner bike with slight drawback that it had been previously accidented and steered to one side. GS750 ES - After a third 2nd gear failure, swapped engine with a gixxer motor. Fun project. Stolen...
Hmmmm..... 1 - Yamaha 400 Special II's (one ran, 3 didn't so I count it as one) 2 - Suzuki GS750 - square headlight, stolen, still on the search for another. 3 - FJ1100
1. 2000 Ducati Monster 600. 2. 2003 Ducati Monster 1000 DS. 3. 2003 Aprilia Mille. Still in the family
77 Suz. TC125 , got my licence on it and rode it to school my senior year. 81 Honda CM400 Custom 83 Suz. GS750E Very first was a Rupp Hustler.
If we are talking about anything with two wheels and and engine: 1995 XR100 1998 CR80 1999 KX125 Stuff without knobbies: 1981 Harley FXRL (Dad gave it to me, I still have it, been parked since 2009) 2007 Buell XB9R 2011 GSXR750
FJ's were (are!) great bikes....air cooled, simple to work on....properly described as a velvet sledgehammer.
Yep, loved it but wasn't riding a lot then so cleaning 4 carbs every time I wanted to ride sucked. Sold it and got a DRZ400S, one carb
1974 Yamaha DT175 - still have this one but it sat outside for many years and it needs a complete restoration that I may never get too 1988 Honda XR250R - so good in tight South Carolina woods. Suspension was super soft but it handled roots like no other bike I've had. Got stolen and the engine blew on the thieves before I got it back. Made it fun to get restitution payments for a complete engine rebuild that was 3x the value of the bike. Served them right... 1998 Yamaha WR400F - used that restitution money to buy this one and started racing woods on it. Also did my first supermoto race on it at the GNF when Don Canet set up a course on the inside pits at Road Atlanta. Dual sport front and knobby rear didn't do a whole lot for me on the asphalt but I was quick in the dirt. My jaw dropped when Scott Russell came buy me on the big factory KTM sliding both ends.
Unknown year QA50 1971 SL125 which I still have and used as a pit bike at Road A last summer 1981 CB750F which I still have
1981 GS550 - Bought it for $300 and rode it for a summer in Michigan, sold it for $500 1998 CBR F3 - Bought new 2001 R1 - Still might be my favorite bike I've ever owned
1981 DT 175 - Put 18,000 miles on it. (I didn't own a car in high school, so I rode that thing year round unless the snow/ice got too deep) 1983 VT500F Ascot, bought in 84, put about 6,500 on that one. That would have been the coolest bike ever if it had been chain drive. 1983 CB1100F - how I lived through owning that thing for 35,000 miles I'll never know.
