    This makes me sad.
I'd seen him live a few times and all the bands he's fronted and his solo stuff are amongst my favourite music.
    Great voice, great music

Absolutely unbelievable... he was by far one of the best singers of our era. The man had a four octave range.

    Rest in peace.

He was head and shoulders above Weiland. Easily one of the best rock vocalists ever.

Weiland's problem was he was a rock cliche and everyone knew how it was going to play out.

I'm a bit down about Cornell, the stuff that Soundgarden was doing now was as good and in some cases better than what they were doing back in the day.

Makes me sad, the Soundgarden Badmotorfinger album definitely marked the early '90s. I'll never forget the first time I heard and saw Jesus Christ Pose in my parent's basement.

He had 3 children and major rock station CHOM reported this morning that he took his own life.

Hopefully he wasn't playing with that needle and spoon. Spoonman is one of my favorites. RIP Jam out in Heaven

Well, all my friends are Indians (All my friends are brown and red) spoonman And all my friends are skeletons (They beat the rhythm with their bones) spoonman Oh, hmm

I wouldn't say he was that far above. Weiland was a damn good singer. He was definitely the better front man.

So how many lead singers from the Seattle grunge scene who have OD'd does this make? Four ?

IIRC this song was influenced by a Seattle street musician who played spoons. I don't think it's a reference to heroin. Could be mistaken but this is what I remember from way back.
