I saw Soundgarden way back in like 1992 Lollapalooza fest. And then saw him last year while he was doing his acoustic solo tour. In my opinion his voice was so much better as he got older. Truly a great vocalist. Sad day for sure.
As much as I loved the band, Soungarden sucked live in the nineties. Not tight at all and made you feel like they didn't want to play for you. Probably too drunk or high. Big dissapointment for me when I saw the Superunknown tour. Cornell was saying how much better the band sounded now, since the reunion.
Not all the shows sucked. I saw them in the '92 Lallapalooza in MN. They were on that day. Really good. I'm in shock. This reminds me of when SRV died.
Artis the Spoonman was/is a local celebrity/street musician. I watched Spoonman at Bumbershoot in 1992 (and so did Soundgarden), very impressive musician. Sorry to see Chris is gone, he was very instrumental (pun intended and not intended) in developing the Seattle sound and scene in the 80's and 90's. Also, remember that May is mental health awareness month, and that males are three times more likely to take their own lives than women. As someone who has experienced mental health issues and suicide in my immediate family, and as a person who has battled depression my entire life as well as fought the suicide temptations, this is a very sad thing to see, if it's true that he took his own life.
Damn. No more Temple of the Dog. Him and Vedser together was awesome. Wish they did more collaboration
Very bummed about this. Soundgarden was the soundtrack for RoadRash on 3DO. My roommate in college had it, and we played it for hours. Just thrashing away. Along with Temple Of the Dog, some of my favorite Cornell memories.
Man.... this one actually hurts. Chris's voice always made my hair stand up. I always thought he was way too good for audioslave. Rock and roll truly is dying. RIP I always said if I ever decided to off myself it would be to "say hello to heaven" Fuck man. Fuck.
Chris, Kurt, Layne all silenced too early....glad we had you guys for however long we were able to. R.I.P.
