So how big does the pile have to get before we should start to react? Do you realize that anything you do to try to stop the spread of it at that time will be way too late.
Yes, that is exactly the point because our hospitals can't handle the load all at once.

And for those saying if you are young and healthy you have nothing to worry about. That is what a formerly healthy 26 year old thought too before she wound up in the hospital.

So, this is how humankind dies? With cheap gas, semi legal grass and nothing to use to wipe it's ass?

Certainly not worth tanking the economy and putting thousands of small businesses out of business. Peoples lives are being destroyed economically but keep ignoring this aspect as the direct result of over reaction.

For now. The wave of hospitalizations due to violence, drug abuse, alcoholism and other factors will come soon enough. Poverty and a GREATER depression than ever will do that eventually.

sounds like the perfect reason to declare martial law without doing so, suspending the constitution, and bringing about 30+% unemployment.

one 26 year old.. hundreds of thousands of reported cases. you have looked at the stats of how incredibly infrequent it is that young people die, let alone even become infected right? Not saying it can't happen, but it's really rare. Meanwhile, the CDC reports 125 children have died of the common flu.
WAY more will be affected adversely, and potentially die (lack of employer healthcare, malnutrition, not going to dr cause they can't afford it for simply illnesses) from the economic impact of this thing, if we don't get back to working pretty soon.

I don't think that Chris was implying that the human immune system doesn't have the capacity to develop immunity to COVID-19 once its been exposed. I think he meant there isn't any natural immunity to COVID-19 pre-infection as a result of previous exposures to other endemic strains of flu that are already out there.

Yes it's already been demonstrated in monkeys that immunity develops after exposure to the virus. I posted this link several pages back detailing research that demonstrated that post exposure and developing antibodies that monkeys could not be reinfected by the virus.
