That's a product of our environment, and learning to react that way from those that said it when we were younger.
Ha - I did k-12 in Catholic Schools, 5 years as an alter boy and sort of unintentionally went to a Catholic university. Strangely...the stories and the dogma of it all changed during those years as well.
You accidentally went to college? Just got on the wrong bus one morning? Catholic dogma has always been a bit fluid, which has helped Catholicism to remain viable as a belief system in the modern era.
University of Dayton...super Catholic sounding school. I never did the official tour, just a weekend visit with a friends older brother partying. Pull up to move in and see a big ol Mary statue (Marianists) right at the main entrance.
It all depends on how you look at it. For many people, they are (and accomplish) the exact same thing.
Yep. They are just things people say, expressions, that have no literal meaning behind them. Saying those things are no different than "for fucks sake" or "fuckinhell" or "piece of shit" or anything else of the sort. It just all depends on what you have been exposed to (or find funny).
I soooooo see this the same way you do. It literally makes me hit the gd skip button when Im watching something I recorded. Thank him in your helmet and leave it at that. Doing it like a damn PSA disgusts me.
That's been a long time favorite of mine. Its a lot more common overseas (where ive pretty much always worked). Sometimes people in the US look at you funny when you say it. Like they cant grasp exactly what you are trying to say. Granted, not quite as funny as they look at you if you let an "Aye" slip out.
Plus when you have a little one, it’s easier to mask into something else. “Motherfucker” is a bit tougher to cover.
