SHTF in Venezuela?

People shouldn't have to pay for what was artificially propped up. Everyone that took out a student loan (hell, everyone that went to college in the last 20 years, but we know that's unlikely to happen) should get a refund. I see this as an inside job with the Ed lobby literally stealing from everyone.

Then you have to do what people did before you and pick up a weapon and head to Washington to remove the current government. You have no control over it and you haven't for at least 5 decades. The moment the government was allowed to take its money directly from the paychecks of its citizens before they received their pay control was lost. That's why they want your guns next. Once they get those you will be completely powerless and will be throwing rocks just like the people of Venezuela.

The government should be steadfast in creating and enforcing rules for all. No changing, no special exceptions because you can afford high price lawyers/lobbyists, etc. We CANNOT keep letting businesses off the hook for immoral and corrupt practices "because they're looking for more profit". That cop-out is the reason things are so fucked up.

If you're standing there with a handful of money offering to pay someone to kill your wife, you're just as (actually I think more) guilty than the person who accepts it.

I can't fault the schools for looking to make money of what are essentially avocation degrees. Anyone thinking that a degree in Gender Studies or something similar is a path to prosperity might actually qualify for public assistance as mentally challenged.

College reparations for everyone. That doesn't sound very Libertarian to me.

What about those that signed a loan in the last month? Next month? Are they sufficiently warned of this nefarious conspiracy? How do you fix the problem? Or do we just keep bailing them out?

I am passionate about a lot of things but only from the keyboard. Student loan forgiveness and reparations are the exceptions. I aint paying that shit and will fight by any means necessary to not do so. Stealing from me to fix the alleged stealing from others is a non-starter.

I don't think we're there yet, but if we don't work harder at taking back our power as citizens, it'll happen.

Out of context it does not. In the context of "that's money they stole from us through manipulation of the government" it makes perfect sense. Even in a Libertarian utopia, the government is still responsible for dealing with theft/crime.

Why do you keep insinuating that it'd be stealing from you? The schools got the money through deceptive practices - why can't they pay it back?

THEY DIDN"T FUCKING STEAL ANYTHING. People willingly signed the loan paperwork. They were not forced under threat of violence or death to sign the paperwork.

WE fund the government. It's OUR money. Most of the schools are public. They use OUR money. Any forgiveness or reparations will come out of OUR pockets and we got a hell of a lot less than the people with the boutique degrees.

Pretty sure every investment is told it comes with risk, including risk of loss. And these are completely different scenarios, one was an investment into nothing but the stock market, another is someone who got an education and a degree that follows them no matter what. In the end the person who took out the loan is responsible for making sure they can repay it, just like the person who made the investment is responsible for the losses it incurs. Don't put your life savings in mortgage backed securities and you won't lose you life savings when a product goes under.

The people who took out these loans got a service and a perpetual boost because of their degree, just like the loan program, no one forced anyone into the mortgage market. You don't think when I joined the military I wasn't the mark of predatory lending and car loans, people telling me I could use my GI bill for some BS trade school? I was in the exact same place as all these other people and guess what, I pulled out a calculator and realized that an 18yo with zero credit was going to pay 24% on a car and sure the payments were low, because 20K was stretched out for 72 months. They didn't lie to me but I realized I didn't want that debt. Just because someone in school didn't crunch the numbers to see if they were comfortable with the final result doesn't make it my fault

Back to the old "it's in the name of profit" get out of jail free card. First off, no state school, nor any state money, should be going for bullshit degrees.

If the schools pay back all this money they took from willing people what will happen to the schools? How will the schools pay the debt they have without money? then the schools collapse and you have no college for anyone.

Just like in VZ, the money has to come from somewhere. These socialist programs aren't free, and simply shifting money around doesn't create more money. If you print more money then you have inflation congrats now you have a whole other host of problems.

Again, for the 50th fucking time, the fact that it was targeted at stupid people does not make it right. It makes it deceptive and predatory, which is illegal. WHY can you not lay blame on the people perpetrating the scheme instead of the one's falling for it? You're failure to do so enables them and contributes to all of the things you hate so much. All of these "stupid people" getting taken advantage of are the ones who will ultimately vote in a socialist government and destroy the country, IF, people like you keep letting big business fuck them over.

So you're saying 10s of millions of people are incapable of basic math and due diligence to ensure they can shoulder the debt their signing for?

I don't know. I do know the schools essentially borrowed money from 20 years into the future, and they had no problem spending all of it on salaries, expansions, sports, and who knows what else.

On the flip side, say the students all pay off their student loans - where does that money come from? Would you rather it go to pay these loans or would you rather it be used to buy houses, goods and services, and all the other stuff that keeps the economy running? How many people are not starting new businesses or creating new innovations because they're living paycheck to paycheck or working three jobs to pay off inflated student debt?

Tell that to the snowflakes that want to spend four plus years working towards a BShit in Minority Transgender Lesbian Studies. These victims would be screaming that we are discriminating for not providing them the opportunity to study such an important aspect of the human condition...before asking to receive forgiveness on their loans.

The money is still in the economy. It's just in different hands. All you are proposing is taking it from one group to appease another.
