I have to imagine #1 in WSBK pays better than #8 in GP, no? Not directed at Rae vs. Cal, just in general - if he hook a shitty GP ride.
only maybe with championship bonuses. I think Cal makes 7 figures, when WBSK salaries didn't approach that.
Being the champeen of the world 4 times straight give you the right to troll Crutchlow. Rae deserves it. And Cal does make over $1M for sure.
He’s a multiple world champion, of course he has a healthy ego. Could he have done well in MotoGP on good machinery? No shit! Thing is, Cal took a huge risk to go to MotoGP and made it work. Toseland was a damned fine rider, took the same risk with the same level of machinery and it didn’t pan out. Same thing with The Ben. Rea’s just talking about doing well in MotoGP, Cal actually did it. Rea could’ve done the same thing if he really wanted. Superbike was probably the smarter path, but coulda shoulda woulda and all that. Point Cal.
If he doesn’t make over $1 million base, this sport is utter shit. There are only 3 dudes this season legitimately faster. On the planet Earth.
Cal has shown the speed this year and last year to be in the timesheet hunt, but until he actually shows some race craft by not getting shuffled back in a fight or throwing it in the sand, his speed is kind of unimpressive. Rae wins fights and finishes races but never took the chance with a mid pack GP team and was seemingly never deemed worthy by a factory team.
