So the guy is dead because he walked towards officers with a metal pipe in hand WHILE they were pointing a gun and a taser at him. Sounds like suicide by cop.

And all these people yelling yet not one of them went to stop the guy. Guess he wasn’t that good of a friend or family member to them.

Taser effectiveness is know instantly. It's really not that hard to understand. I've also stated that not every situation will allow it. But you're right, fuck it, ventilate everyone.

 

I do. And my decisions also don't have the potential to end a life. They should do better than I do.

Sounds like the owner's story is pretty tight and backed by a lot of video. I get the adrenaline and feeling big, bold walking with the gear and your crew after a night of civilian ass kicking - but the the union using their public/social outlets to harass this guy's business? Hope someone gets destroyed for using the "authority" of the police dept to try and ruin a guy who committed no crime except in the eyes of the FOP.

 

This is the ugly backlash I was talking about in "How Far Will the Left Push". It's my second biggest fear from the Trump administration, that they'll enact new laws that enable a real authoritarian/totalitarian government (my first fear is that this administration enacts the laws, but a future left wing administration takes full advantage of them and turns us into a socialist/communist police state).

 

He sounds like a realistic business owner when he says that the police don't "protect his business". Calling for police who never show up is not an uncommon complaint.

 

Y'all apparently haven't seen a grown man on drugs handle a taser....

Not saying this guy was on drugs or anything but cops generally know that in many cases, depending on the drug, a taser is not gonna slow one down.

 

Sounds like the cops have major issues and need to inflate their own egos by pretending this guy can only do business because they keep him safe. Also sounds like the FOP thinks suggesting people flood his business phone lines with harassing calls is perfectly legal thing to do.

I assume you mean this as a smart-ass reply, but it's accurate. Hundreds of thousands of police interactions on a DAILY basis. How many end up like this, or even close?? So yes ... another isolated case.

 

Isolated when compared as an entire group across the country. Funny how every police indiscretion is justified simply as being an isolated case. Thousands of isolated cases start to become a trend. Not so mich when compared to the individual department in St. Louis. Lots of documented cases that support that this department has shown systematic racist tactics and thug behavior.

 

From their own comments. The implication is, we have given this guy space to be a free citizen and now we'll use our position to infringe upon that. We are able to operate at their pleasure. Also, the whole "who owns these streets" chanting also sort of informs my opinion about how the SLPD egos are stroked.

"There are reports of people calling the restaurants tying up their phone lines expressing their feelings about the owners anti-police comments. We have been busy protecting everyone's free speech during the demonstrations. Here are the numbers if you feel like your freedom of speech needs a little exercise," the police union posted, sharing numbers for Pi locations.

 

Would you put yourself in front of cops pointing guns when they are so quick to shoot?
People don't trust or feel safe around a cop holding a gun, because "they're going home tonight".
Nobody else in their vicinity has that guarantee.

 

How about we just stop the authoritarian in training and the legions of bootlickers from allowing it to take root in the first place? Problem is, there are a whole lot of people in the US who want to align themselves with the authoritarians because they feel defacto power from it. Your concern that "the left" could get their hands on this power and THEN it will be bad shows kind of indicates to me that its OK when it's not focused at you.

 

If you are walking toward someone who has a gun pointed at you, cop or not, whether you are armed or not, you should NOT feel safe as that is a really dumb thing to be doing. The exception would be if they are expressly telling you to walk toward them. I don't believe a properly trained police officer would be telling you to do that unless they first told you to turn around and walk backward toward them.

 

They're my #1 and #2 concerns. They're not far apart, right is only slightly less worse because I'm a straight white male, so I'd most likely be left alone by the right leaning totalitarians.
