My vote (Terminator 2) is being re-released in 3D. I've still yet to come across a film that so perfectly nailed suspense/drama/action/characters/plot and still held up so well to this day, 26 years later. It was one of the last films to truly rely on practical effects but still pave the way for the next generation of digital, but in a way that didn't detract from the movie itself. I find nearly every shot, every second, is unwasted perfection in action storytelling. OK, let's hear yours.........but only 1! Can't make this too easy and rattle off a handful.
The original Matrix. The effects were mindblowing, the twist was completely new and unexpected, and the fight choreography was exceptional. Oh, and then there's the soundtrack... Everything about that movie is amazing.
Die Hard is pretty damn solid all the way through. Not an action movie per se...but the first 25-30 minutes of LeMans is pretty damn good action.
I would say The Matrix, but only the first one. It was such a departure from everything before it, and changed the entire genre (I know it wasn't the first to use the wires but it was the first blockbuster to do so). Every movie for a decade after had people flying around on wires kicking ass. To this day, every time I have deja vu I say "something must have changed in the matrix".
Yup. Movies like that are why it's so hard to come up with just one. "With a Vengeance" (with Samuel Jackson) is pretty amazing, too. The other Die Hard films, not so much.
Action Jackson had so much action it was in the title. Dude was doing flips to dodge moving cars way before Neo was dodging bullets!
I still enjoy watching Enter The Dragon semi-regularly to this day, and can't say that about most other action movies.
John Wick is my favorite action movie of all time. A close second is The Departed. I saw both movies at the theater and both audiences clapped at the conclusion of the movie.
Really enjoyed both John Wick movies, Maybe the second one a bit more. Point Break still holds its own.
Lol, I just saw the beginning of the 1st one for the 1st time last night. Have always caught at sometime further along in the movie. No wonder he was so pissed off, they killed his dog.
I could go with Terminator 2. The 2 stroke XR 100 was the only glaring fault. Aliens belongs on the list
