What are some good racing movies that are worth buying? Documentary, instructional, legendary races/racers or 'history of' type movies, not some hollywood drama that involves racing. Google and Amazon keeps giving me the hollywood type movies.
There are plenty of the Isle of Man, but they're closer to "season review" than "movie." V-Four Victory is pretty amazing -- including Joey Dunlop interviews, if I recall correctly.
The 24 hours of Le Mans...it's better then history...and rather instructional if you listen to Steve McQueen.
best line in the lemans movie from mcqueens's character michael delaney... "A lot of people go through life doing things badly. Racing’s important to men who do it well. When you’re racing, it... it’s life. Anything that happens before or after... is just waiting."
I can't believe you all forgot "Silver Dream Racer" with David Essex...Classic stuff right there!!! Cheers, Lee S
I own a movie called RACE THE WIND....I think. Its a pseudo love story which involves a lot of Flat track racing. I picked it up for $5. LOL I'm sure you can too. It has Judge Nelson in it...the dude from Coach. Its not too bad...
There's a French documentary from the early '70s called, Le Cheval de Fer, that follows the Grand Prix circus with Agostini, Read, Findlay, Sheene and others. I've been looking everywhere for it for a while and I've never been able to locate it. I think I gave up a while back when all I could find was a DVD or VHS that amazon wouldn't sell me because I live in the US. So if anyone knows this and has a copy, I'll gladly pay for a copy of it. Think the same people that did this did Continental Circus which followed the '68 GP season I think. Mainly following Findlay around. There's trailers for these on youtube. The one for Le Cheval is really cool on bike footage of Phil Read on the MV 500 triple.
