I mean honestly, who likes paying taxes, wants more welfare/social programs, wants to pussify the military, etc...

Someone please explain this to me... Does this make any sense?

You sure have racked up a load of posts there in a short time...

Not sure if i'm gonna take the bait on your question however. ;)

  3. Oh come on - that's not the way it is at all. Nobody WANTS to pay taxes.

The whole idea of the socialist wealth redistribution vision is that you get SOMEONE ELSE to pay the taxes, so you can kick back and receive the benefits.

    I have an inquisitive mind...

No bait intended...this is a conundrum which hath throughly perplexed me from my young days of political enlightenment...i don't make that much, and look at each paycheck and $200 goes to the gov't each week not to mention property taxes, sales tax, etc...this...all under a republican gov't...why is this not enough for liberals..honestly? I really wanna know...and you can forget about throwing out the old "it's for the children" garbage...because that just isn't the case or the motivation behind 90% of liberal spending....

Exactly my point...liberal wackos are for widespread gov't control...i.e. healthcare, etc...liberals/democrats of the 60s were much more like republicans...todays socialists wear the mask of a "liberal"

Starting Jan 1, i am going to start keeping a notebook on every tax, inspection, compliance charges etc the government takes through next year dec31...and i will be willing to bet that although i am in one of the lower tax brackets, i still pay probably 40-45% in government fees...

200 bucks is a lot of money to me, richie rich....:Poke:

Shut up you Canadian Commie!! As President of the North Buffalo Libertarians I take a strong anti-tax position. the government should use taxes to pay only for roads and the military/police (one and the same in a Libertarian Utopia). every thing else is pay as you go, the survival of the fittest, caveat emptor, and it just plain old sucks to be poor and sick cause you gonna die anyway sukkah!!

And oh yeah, all roads should be toll roads 'cause otherwise the guuvernment is taking your taxes to subsidize some asswipe who drives a 97 Cutlass in Cleveland.

    BRING BACK THE DARK AGES!!

Rog...a libertarian? Why bring back the dark ages? I admit, i think the 40-50s were probably some of the best times this country has seen in terms of moral decency, patriotism, etc...also agree that the nat'l government should only provide for the defense..it's original purpose, and then the states maintain roads, etc, and local gov't cares for the schools...it all makes perfect sense and doesn't cost 50% of your wages every year...

    Jeff -

From the end of WWII to 1960 this country was a mess. We still had illegal segregation, McCarthyism and we suported MANY bloodthirsty dictatorships throughout the world. Even if you don't agree with Busg, you have to admit that we are a better country now than then, IMHO.

    And Jeff, I was being sarcastic!!!!!!!!!:D :D

    HPPT !!!

I think that opinion would vary greatly depending on race, gender or political beliefs.;)

I have been told on this forum that I am liberal, which I did not know before. Now I find out love taxes in government spending. I am totally confused, and in search of an identity.:D

Identity? You want identity?? I'll give you identity: Papa Thiam is an Afro-Euro trash communist-liberal, taxophiliac, who loves the French and their cheese more than he loves a candy stripper's cleavage.

    i slay me!!

Did you know that the republicans are in control of Congress? Did you know that the president is a republican?
Democrats have control of the Senate.

Just who do you think is going to pick up the tab for Iraq? 87 billion is a lot of money. What about the 200 gazillion $ for the new defense plan?

    Damn Liberals!!!!!!!! or not.

  15. Re: Re: WTF is it with liberals?

Hmm. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) might be a bit surprised to learn that his party isn't in control of the Senate :Poke:

Although I wouldn't argue with you if you'd said that the Democrats have the Senate Republicans by the balls!

I dont see any of this as left or right, Dem vs. Rep. Ive been paying taxes since I started working years ago and as my income increased so have my taxes. I really havent seen a big decrease in what Im paying since Bush took office, so blame it on Goverment, not liberals.

This country has been run by big corporations for a long time. The Goverment is just doing whatever special interests are paying them to do. I wish it was just a conservative vs liberal problem.

It seems most of us want the same things regardless of our party associations. Why must we let the Dem vs. Rep. hangup keep us fighting amonst ourselves.

BTW - When was the last time anyone heard or saw our VP?? Is it just me or is Cheney the most invisible VP of all time?

Only physically. Trust me that "Mr. Halliburton" has a lot more influence on the way things run than anyone will admit. He scares me.

  20. Hmm. Well. What exactly did VP Gore do for eight years? I'm asking because I really want to know. Name a few things, please.
