I found a DS-7 some time back, has been sitting there gathering dust, in race trim done by a builder/tuner out west ...this could be a solid bike given a decent set of pipes and larger carbs... Let me know if you're interested.

I could take the cylinders off Paul's RD 250 and put DS7s on it and sell that to you. You'd just have to swear to never tell him where you got it...

I'm wary - what are you going to do with a DS7, Joe?

    I feel neglected . . . .

I don't know why you feel neglected. You have had an open invitation to ride one of my TZs any time you want. The G model, probably a 145mpg bike, is ready and waiting. Listen to the siren song, come visit us.....you won't feel neglected any longer.

I have to give you credit for squeezing that kind of gas mileage out of a fast TZ...this could aave us all some bucks on race fuel if only you would tell us how you do it...probably some sort of burnt fuel-recycling apparatus.

Well, I certainly am not neglected. I may not be a very good typist or proofreader, but I am not neglected. I trust that David knows that the G and the H key on a keyboard are right next to each other (you smart guys would probably say something like, adjacent to one another, but I digress) and I made a mistake or a mistroke or something. I was just trying to make him feel better and realize that we consider all riders, even those who ride four stroke singles from the British aisles, brothers. (In Law.)

I understand the nature of your concern for David, given his proclivity for singles manufactured in the aisles of various stores and shoppes in England. When I think of it, all I can say is "The horror, the horror.'

I now take note of the juxtaposition of the G and H keys in close quarters on the keyboard; Davis would most likely use the term 'proximity' in case you were wondering. I was hoping against all odds that, somehow, the Garland 2-Stroke Specialists had found a way to stretch humongous miles out of one gallon, in which case five gallons would last me the entirety of my remaining racing effort. Unfortunately, now i find that my hopes were dashed on the rocks of a Freudian slip of the fingers on the keyboard. However, I do commend your efforts to reach across the aisle in an act of moto-brotherhood.

  14. Lynn,

Can I get in line to ride one of the TZ's? I want to do 145mph on a 200 pound motorcycle.

Now we're talking! DS7 top end with some of your magic porting skills, add a drum front brake and I think I see a new GP350 perrenial winner in the making.
Really though, it's time a 2-stroker took over this class, or at least a bike with more than one cylinder.......:D

Mark, it would be great...but i would prefer it would be on a real 350gp bike. The last bike to beat Doug for for a 350Gp title was a Bultaco Metrella. :D

And Jack Parker did a great job at the GNF on a DT1 single.

The DS7 unrestricted can make into the 50's rwhp. Its is an indexed bike and a properly built one could be a lethal weapon in the class. Put Doug on a bike with 20 more hp and the lap times would be much faster. Just look at V1 lap times for a perspective.

The DS is basically an Rd without reeds and you could duplicate a Td2 with it also which can make near 60hp..like Ralph Hudson's and George Taylor's.

At a minimum a carb restriction should be considered. With 28mm carb's it would still be more powerful than a Duc 350.

Alot of guys have really put effort in keeping this class going including help from Wera. Wouldn't want to see it negatively impacted by a top rider on a killer indexed bike.

A tribute TD would be cool....anyone decides to do it I've got a pretty nice TD drum....that thing is a monster!

How come these 'lethal weapons' are few and far between? If we're going by the rules, then whatever the rules permit is fair game, and unless my vsion is failing, I see the Yam DS-7, among other Yams, listed as qualified for 350GP. By the standard you are suggesting, then Casey Stoner and his Honda (or Lorenzo and his Yam) should have been thrown out of MotoGP, in consideration of all the guys who really put effort into keeping MotoGP going!

I also see the "Norton 350" listed as an eligible 350GP bike, as well as the "AJS 7R", both of which are quite potent, if you can afford one.

If you are willing, in the spirit of '2-Stroke Brotherhood' kindly post all of the specs necessary to build this 50-60 HP DS-7, so i may compare it to the one I am looking at now, which is kind of tatty and in need of some love.

All is fair in love and war.

    Easy..look at Td specs.

So..do you not believe a DS7 can make over 50hp? It can..just because its tatty and needing TLC doesn't mean you cant put the RD400 closer ratio tranny in use Tz250G pipes from swarbrick and have a good tuner port the cyls.

Jack was racing a DT1 and war running with the AJ7...put him on the DS and Stu would have been a distant 2nd.

All is fair in love in war...but a ringer is still a ringer.

"Could haves, would haves, and should haves don't count."

Jack, like you and several others, is a superb rider who would win races on a moped. Besides, the rules are the rules, and the DS-7 is in.

i'm gonna take another look at that DS-7.

By the way, if the DS-7 is the killer bike that you make it out to be, how come everyone in the class isn't riding it?
