If anyone is heading to the Indy SX on March 16th there will be about 15 combat vets / WWP Alumni present during the opening ceremonies and presentation of colors. If you are at the event make sure you thank them for their service.

Indianapolis Supercross to Showcase Local Combat Veterans.

    3/13/2013 Upper Arlington, Ohio.

This weekend’s Monster Energy Supercross in Indianapolis will showcase local combat veterans during the opening ceremonies. In attendance will be combat veterans from the Vietnam through the Iraq / Afghanistan conflicts. Team Ohio Racing’s / Veterans Empowered Through Motorsports (TOR-VETM) worked with series promoter Feld Motor Sports to create this opportunity that will highlight service members of the United States Armed Forces.

TOR-VETM Founder Pete Cline will be at Daytona International Speedway for the AMA Pro Racing Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson series, Thursday and Friday March 14-15. Cline will be assisting teams working with combat veteran crews during the event at Daytona. These veterans are local to the Daytona area and part of the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Alumni. At the conclusion of the XR1200 races on Friday, Cline will fly back to Columbus, OH and then meet the combat veterans at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN on Saturday.

“I wasn’t sure if VETM was going to have a team presence at Daytona, so I reached out to Feld Motor Sports about having combat veterans at Monster Energy Supercross in Indianapolis” stated Cline. “We then got a commitment for two crews at Daytona, and then Feld came back to us and said our request was a go for Indy. Luckily I booked my flight hoping this would happen. We are fortunate to have series promoters such as Feld Motor Sports and Monster Energy Supercross that want to shine a light on the men and women who have served this country!”

About Team Ohio Racing’s / Veterans Empowered Through Motorsports: Team Ohio Racing is the first motorsports team to fully integrate disabled veterans into an active race team environment. By working with the Wounded Warrior Project, local alumni-warriors are incorporated into their AMA Pro Racing Vance & Hines XR1200 team. Team Ohio Racing delivers respect to the WWP mission by working with WWP-Alumni members, allowing them to focus on their abilities instead of disabilities, and to heal and empower through motorsports.
