I'm very curious to see how the GRT Yamaha squad does this year. What a team! Won't win the whole thing, but I'm thinking they'll spoil a lot of races.

Yea, both Van Der Mark and Redding were doing pretty well on other bike brands before going to BMW.

They said they had some issues in the last session so Garrett never got to go out to do some hot laps to try to post a time. He was up as high as 7th earlier. Don't throw it the towel yet, we talkin bout practice.

He may be guessing at the weekend tire cost per rider.

I’ve always wondered if the tire manufacturer is paying for the rights to “charge” teams for tires or tires are free to teams with the payback being brand exposure for the manufacturer. Thoughts?

The last time I checked it was a set fee per rider for the servive and tires. That means no matter how many you use the cost doesn't change. I'm not sure exactly but think it's around 3500 per weekend? And I think if you commit to the whole series you get a discount?
I do remember that number because I helped Chris Ulrich race WSBK at Laguna one year. Giorgio was impressed as Chris is/was the fastest journalist to race a WSBK round.
