Well, he is hooked. My 6yr old first road race and now I need some gear.

That’s what my son rides in the dirt. His front end is new and still has some shake to it.

So what’s the deal on road tires for that size? Best brand and source?

Any other mods relevant to transitioning?

We run 90/90-10 mitas tires. Got them at gatorrimz.com I found out about better fork bushings at fast 50s so we are going to try them out.

As far as boots the Alpinestars Tech7S youth boots are good, if he can wear dirt bike boots for the first few years. They are about $200.
My wife wears a size 6 in women's. So finding a good boot was a struggle. Anything that I knew was good didn't come in that size.
Astar recently updated the youth boot and they are on pair with the men's Tech 7.

Man, talk about memories. I saw this thread pop up and thought wow, I forgot about this thread. Some 3 years later, more money then I wanna think about. He is riding an r.s. chassis with an 85cc in it doing 95 mph on big tracks at 9yrs old. What was I thinking.:crackup:

Get ahold of Jimmy at STG and get some of the RS-Taichi gloves they have for kids. Very popular glove for kids and pretty reasonably priced.
That's what my son's using at this time.
