I have a friend in NW DC who needs help repairing a favorite office chair. It appears that a short piece of tube (which the caster stem fits into) has come off the sq tube it was welded to.

Can anybody recommend somebody with contact info? IMG_20241129_164836.jpg IMG_20241129_164836.jpg IMG_20241129_164840.jpg

That’s like my dad wants me to spend hours of my time to fix a shitty lawn ornament he got at the auction for $5 and then I waste my time for him to sell it at the same auction for $7

Take it to a local welding school and give a student some practice with a $tip.

Something that simple you can have any backyard hobbiest tack it back on. Hop on craigslist.

If it's not a cheap chair that part is available from
    the seller or manufacturer.

Thats what I did. Bought the cheap $89 Chicago Electric from harbor freight. I've done all kinds of welding projects with it and its worked flawlessly. They have a new Titanium one that's supposed to be even better. It's already the polarity (?) that people modify mine to, that's supposed to give cleaner welds with less spatter.

Damn, I’d offer to do it, being so close and have access to the welding equipment. Just not sure how it would fly getting back out the door mainly. Not sure of schools in DC, but there is the Carpenters Union training facility shortly outside on the SE side (Forrestville/Upper Marlboro Md) Depending on what’s being offered, that’s the facility we trained inner city high school kids looking at trades. DC had nothing to offer. I know one of the pile driver instructors that would be the guy to do it. I’ll try to get a hold of him, but it’s been a few years.
