Curious if anyone has heard or posted any official numbers as far as racers, spectators, campers at Mid Ohio this year. The place was nuts this year, maybe they gave up and lost count?!
Today's conspiracy theory: If you were running a business that took in a boatload of cash would you boast about how much you made???
When you're a not for profit like the museum which is what the event benefits you kind of have to tell We had 215 or so riders Saturday and 190 on Sunday. Real numbers are slightly less due to pre entries that didn't make it to the event.
Isn’t that what most companies do when they post their quarterly/annual revenue and it’s discussed during shareholder meetings? Not sure if /sarcasm on your part.
It's mostly a joke, but not many companies take in large amounts of cash in just a few events. Not to mention we're not talking about a publicly traded company that has to answer to shareholders.
I figured. But to bring up Papa’s comments on the use of Engrish you said “a business that took in a boatload of cash” which didn’t sound specific to racing or a single event. You should know you gots to be pacific wiff da crowd up in here!
Mid Ohio was packed. I know when I got there at 1:30p on Thursday, there were already 7K through the gate. No idea how many more came in because the line was out the road about a mile for several hours. Great event. Save for motor issues, it was a lot of fun. I am VERY glad however that the WERA folks were gated off from the madness though. It was crazy!
I counted everyone Saturday night.... 81,234 alive 211 unconscious and 4 dead... On a serious note I would say at least 80K....
https://americanmotorcyclist.com/20...0824&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Net-Results# I still love how they did the scenic lap just as we were having the pre-race meeting.
I have no idea what the split is. Either way the event is a fundraiser for the museum. It's not a WERA event. AMA has to answer to their board and all the regs the feds have on not for profits so it's worse I'm sure.
Normally not a major issue until the photogs decided right there was the best spot for a picture... I'll keep that from happening again even though it did make me smile to think about how pissed off Sublet was getting
You could see his face boiling over a bit Actually it was kind of fun seeing all those knuckleheads. There was so many out there that they took up almost the entire lap.
They do a similar thing at the Barber Vintage Festival. I'm just waiting for someone on a clapped out bike to dump a load of oil on the track and completely screw up what is already a very tight schedule. I assume at MO like Barber it's set up by the AMA/Promoter so the outfit running the races is at the mercy of those organisations.
