Pre-screening the renter will be key.

You still bear the risk of some unknown, initially undetectable internal damage.

Great idea tho'. For 30% of rental fee, they handle the claims process and guarantee up to $15,000 in damage reimbursement and chase the damaging person and their insurance . . . not an insignificant task.

Did I mention that pre-screening is important?

    Cheers,

    Dave

Been throwing the idea around of getting a wr250r or some other dual sport. Doesn't seem like a bad idea to recoup money back on a bike like them that are pretty cheap to crash proof. I really want a husky 701 though....

For anyone who's rented through Twisted Road, anything to look out for and/or be aware of?

Heading out to LA in a week (perfect timing, I know) and renting a 2022 Multistrada V4 for Thursday-Sunday and wanted to see if there were ways either the website tried to scam you or the renter tried to nickel and dime you.

Related, will also take any ideas on things to do/see out there.

Where are you going to be in LA? Given what's going on I'd suggest checking to see where you're staying/going is available/accessible.

If it that's confirmed, what do you like to do? How much time do you have on the ground? How far do you want to travel?

Feel free to DM me if that's easier.

There's tons of beautiful roads to ride around LA, but sadly, many of those areas are under siege from the wildfires and are inaccessible and/or you "shouldn't" ride there because first responders need access, etc. All of the Malibu Mountain area is mostly all off limits; including going up and down the PCH where a bunch of the landmarks you might want to see are gone now anyway.

Azusa Canyon / Baldy / Glendora area might be open, but it also might be closed since it is mostly public lands and the roads don't connect to homes, so it is easy for them to close it off for safety quickly.

Angeles Crest also may or may not be open. They try to keep some route open over the mountain there because there's a good number of people and businesses that rely on being able to commute from one side to the other regularly. There are a few homes up that way too, so they make an extra effort to keep something open. The area by the Southern base of ACH is one of the most volatile areas though not far from the Eaton fire.

Things could of course change by next week considerably, but that's where we're at now. Aside from rides, places to check out would be Bike Shed in the downtown Arts District, Iconic Motorbikes at the Santa Monica airport. You could go to the beach / boardwalk from Venice and to the South around Manhattan Beach / Hermosa beach / etc.

Staying at my buddy's place (10000 Santa Monica Boulevard).

I'm sure he's gonna have an agenda for us (and mentioned what it was on a call a couple of days ago, but I was super high so forget already) but I'm sure there's good things to do that he doesn't know about because he only works in LA during the week and heads home to Florida on the weekends.

    Nice.

Like Luke mentioned, Malibu and the canyons east of LA will likely be closed. The 101 might be OK so if you wanted to head up to Ventura/Ojai/Santa Barbara there's good riding out in that direction.

You could also head south to San Diego. Mt Palomar/Julian and the surrounding areas are great for riding, but Palmoar might have snow at the top this time of year.
