I have a 2019 Vit 701 with a Nitron shock, Andreani cartridges, Leo Vince exhaust and cat delete and Brembo monoblock front caliper. It is lots of fun on the street and converts to my race bike in less than an hour. On the track it does extremely well power and handling.
Wait a hold it…..so that looks good to you, or are you agreeing that MV must have fired their designers when producing this one? I like many MV designs, but at least from this angle, that’s a face only mama could love…reminds me of what Ducati did with the 999.
Agreed! The stock suspension on the Vit is good for a few minutes, but at reasonable pace it overheats in about 5 laps. I LOVE the Nitron shock and fork cartridges on my Duke. Joe at WitchKraft did the installation, and mentioned how he thought the Nitron was as nicely machined as anything else he had put together. -T
How Dare You! haha Yes, I think the bike looks incredible. Maybe it's not coming across in pictures, but it is magnificent. Remember, the Superveloce 1000 is not meant to be a proper Superbike or replace the F4. It is meant to be a powerful bespoke retro sports bike that does handle incredibly well and do all the things superbikes do, but rather than being track / performance based, it is very intentionally meant to be classically beautiful. I think it does that beyond expectation and I'd say the magazine editors and motorcycle buyers agree having already sold three since they were unveiled. Remember this is limited to 500 in the world with a price tag of $70,100.
The only thing that would make me look like Toprak is photoshop but yeah, it is cool having such different machines. I pulled it out last night and ring-ding-ding'd around the neighborhood for a few minutes.
I spent some time yesterday looking into the same suspension combo. R3 Nitron? What vendor did you use?
How fast are these in comparison to a RG500? I owned a couple of those and sold them 30 years ago to buy my current house. RG’s are hard to find and are quite expensive, so I wondered about these, as they are more modern. Plus I remember when riding a Z1 again, sometimes it’s better to have the pleasant memories versus realizing how bad that old motorcycle really was. I would hate to think now I wouldn’t still love the gamma.
I often wonder the same about my old '86 GSXR 750. A friend has an RG and I was initially surprised at the similarities but it makes sense - they were both from the mid-80s. It's a shame they didn't survive just a few more years when everything transitioned to what's still the general sportbike architecture of twin spar frames w/17" wheels. I've only ridden his RG500 briefly and really didn't like it all that much except for the engine. The seating position felt weird. Butt low, hands high. I actually wondered if it has aftermarket bars on it but I think it was stock. Down the dragstrip, I'm sure it was faster than an RS though.
Curious if you did any dyno tuning on it ? I have been thinking about taking it to Rottweiler performance as they are an hour away from me. From what I have read, the cat delete needs a full tune.
No I haven't had any dyno time and no tune. However it runs really great and I can't feel any short comings.
^^^ Tune it! @AJ @wolfie109 My 690 was "tuned" with a PCV and Auto-Tune, but without an adult minding the store (i.e. a HUMAN who knows what they are doing) it detonated like crazy. All good in the end, but just remember that these are something like 13.5:1 compression with a bore diameter of 105mm... They are prone to detonation without lots of octane if not tuned properly. -T
What fuel were you running? How many miles / hours on it? I stocked up on Sunoco 93 Race Fuel at Barber in October for my FE 350s, even though it only calls for 91 octane. I lug mine on the trails a lot and want to ensure I don't experience any detonation. All 100% OEM so far.
93 octane, probably 400 or so miles on that tune. The problem is (likely) in the ignition advance curves in the tune and the (relatively) low octane of the fuel. I now run a combo of 50/50 110 octane Sunoco and 93 pump. I'm just saying this: Know your state of tune. My detonation was NOT the fault of the stock map or of KTM. -Tom
Thank you both. I might begin tuning on mine some over the winter. I will be a very interested observer in the 2025 MotoAmerica Talent Cup and the Krämer APX-350 MA, as it uses the same engine my bike has. I do understand that it's a spec. engine, with a racing exhaust and spec. ECU.
Update: Picked up my new to me 2018 Tuono V4 from motoclub LA on Saturday. Well set up with a lot of choice upgrades. Did 75 miles in the canyons yesterday and loved it.
#be a racer ftmfw! lol. Slap some forged rims on it and it's like adding 30 buttponies and dropping 25 lbs.
