Really? I haven't paid enough attention to Mat's online comments know his feelings on the matter but the little bit I've seen from Ben, from what I recall, was... let's just say less than favorable towards Mat. I can't remember the thread or context even, but I seem to recall at least one on here where Ben was pretty direct on the matter. But maybe I'm misremembering.

Edit: Just went back and found the thread I was thinking of and I did not misremember. No love lost from Ben's side it seems.

 

There have been a few interviews of late where Ben talks about him and Matt talking and moving on from the past.

 

Mladin seems a bit unstable lately, political bs is getting to him and he easily loses his shit...

Curmudgeon comes to mind. I liked him when he first came back.

 

Saw some photos of him from NJ and damn, that's night and day differnece from when he was racing in 'merica.

While racing for Yosh he looked like the guy who'd beat up the football players for their steroid money. Now? He looks like he should be back behind the gymnasium smoking pot and listening to the Doors.

Edit. and he's smiling in the photos!!!! Didn't know he could smile back then.

 

That was the last time I saw Mladin in person was on track in 2009 @ NJMP. I mean 15 years and the shit he's had to endure in the last several of them I'd imagine chips away at you a bit.

 

I didn't even recognize him! If I bumped into him in a paddock I'd have no idea. Isn't Yates like 6'2"? I thought MM wasn't too tall. He looks much taller than Yates in the pic I saw.

 

Fucker actually looks happy now.

 

Mat played the asshole well, but if he’s not in the HOF, then the HOF has no meaning. He set the standard for excellence in the states. Anyone that doesn’t recognize that is simply biased and/or wrong.

Spies went to WSBK, new bike, new tires, new tracks and won the championship because he conditioned himself to beat Mat. We need that standard of excellence, to prove yourself before going to the world stage.

 

He looks troubled. Sometimes very happy, sometimes very angry.

Agreed...there was a period of AMA SBK where Mladin and Spies were better than the guys winning in WSBK.

 

At this time.... If you were watching on TV you would have thought only two people entered the race. 3rd and everyone else was sooo far back it was ridiculous. Matt really IS responsible for preparing Spies for bigger and better things. I dont know who said that earlier but it was spot on..
