Goddamn, news just broke that Sauber's title sponsor is in hot water and being sued by the casino commission in Switzerland.

Great time to be a motorsports journalist with all this shit going down at once. So much for a slow off season.

 

It's a good thing they add so much value and have a prestigious new engine manufacturer providing power units.

 

So, who's watched the BRAWN GP documentary series? I hate Ferrari so much.

It was very well done. I don't remember the teams trying to break away like that. Good ole Bernie making backroom deals... Kinda sucks he held that money from them that they were owed to get them to sign.

 

I've read a full painted car is about 3kg. I've also read 1kg could add up to as much as 0.1 seconds over a decent lap.
Not sure how true any of that is, but its the best Ive been able to find.

 

Don't they have to add weight too make minimum anyway? I guess this savings will allow them to put it where they want.

 

No, those hybrids are fat as fuck. Some teams really struggle to get anywhere near minimum weight.

Everyone talking about Hamilton to Ferrari in the twilight of his career it occured to me this is reminiscent of Rossi to Ducati.

 

The Tifosi hold sway over all racers. You can't deny that.

 

I wonder what his salary is compared to MB?

 

Eh, not really. Rossi wasn't in the twilight of his career when he took the risk, some might say it was close to his prime. He had come off back-to-back titles in 08/09, then had an injury impacted season in 2010 when he was expected to win it all again. When he moved to the Duc he was still considered the championship favorite. (until the racing started lol) He raced for 10 more years after the move.

Hamilton hasn't won the championship since 2020. He hasn't had anything to shorten his race participation and he finished 3rd last year, and 6th the year before that. Hamilton has a 2 year deal with Ferrari, so who knows how long he'll keep racing.

 

With all the dark cars, if a track repaves, it might be hard to spot them!

 

It’s been reported that his total number for this year including salary and sponsorship is $100 million. Not too shabby I guess. I’d think his salary would have to be $50-60 million or so based on that number.
