School me on investing...

I invested in EnergyX. $9 per share. Its up to $9.5 a share now. Lithium investment. Banking on EV expansion. Buyers remorse. We shall see..

 

I pay lot of attention to EV/Renewable energy stuff. I got into $PLL, $ALB, $LIT, (a lithium/EV/Renewables ETF) and $LAC stuff in 2019/2020... Rode the awesome wave upwards, then I somehow got back out of most of it before they plummeted. Lost a lot of my profit on the LIT position because with it being an ETF I figured it would be less volatile, but it just kept retracing and retracing... and I kept just trying to "buy the dips"

The current issue with Lithium is that it costs a lot to mine and process in a "clean and environmentally friendly" way. This is an issue that US/EU suppliers have to deal with whereas China, Africa, don't really have to worry about. South America maybe not so much either. So competing with the companies and nations that produce with lithium materials from these mines is difficult. China will basically race anyone to the bottom of a price.. Lithium is not necessarily a "rare" resource either and there are lots of deposits all over the world.

Good thing is that until further notice, lithium is here to stay. It's used in damn near every sort of power storage now. Personally I'd like to see it listed as a commodity on the futures market, as that could potentially put prices in a less volatile state.

My personal portfolio is now basically NO LITHIUM stocks. I have actually moved capital into companies that mine and produce the more "rare" or "price efficient" battery/EV materials like copper, cobalt, nickel, and manganese. Companies like $FCX, $BHP, and $Vale... My portfolio is basically littered with 12-24months to expiration dated long call options and short put options in these companies.. (I don't really buy shares anymore, just trade options and futures contracts)

Anyway, that's my take. I think you missed the first bus for sure...

But hey, I could be wrong, maybe it will skyrocket again and this is a good time to get back into lithium?.

Before the split I was selling NVDA calls because I never thought it would sustain the 1000 mark......I was wrong. Again.

 

Careful what you ask for.

Presently FAR more "paper" silver weight trades on the futures market than exists above ground in the entire world. The result is a very skewed price with zero correlation to supply and demand. Logic would dictate that at some point, eventually, the futures market and physical reality would converge... But I ain't holding my breath.

The new Shanghai market should, theoretically help to resolve some of the issues. Or, being Chyna... Maybe make them worse.

You ought to be making good money now? We just crossed over $12+. LFG! Keep a close watch cause it can dip just as fast as it propels. If you want the profits, take them accordingly. I'm holding for more but that's just me. Good luck!
