Anybody buying Series I Savings Bonds? I had never heard of them, but it seems like a good deal. You can't put very much in, but it's a decent guaranteed return.

I'm not gonna be around in 30 years, and AT&T is paying a better dividend (though it will be cut to ~4-5 ish next year) and has a decent appreciation upside.

(fair disclosure, I own T in my IRA)

My understanding is that you can cash them after 1 year. Under 5 years and you lose 3 months of interest. Maybe I'm wrong.

You're right on that front, but the interest is only guaranteed for six months, then it readjusts for inflation. You're only guarantee is you won't lose your principle and accumulated interest. They are meant to keep up with inflation.

There's the rub... What/who's definition of inflation.

They use the Consumer Price Index. Interest rate is currently 7.1%

That just tells me that someone got ass-reamed on an illiquid ticker by not placing a limit order.

In hindsight, a $10K flyer might not have been the worst idea.

What trading platform do you guys use? I have Etrade, Schwab and Robinhood. I'd say I like ETrade the best, but I'm not thrilled with any of them.

Robinhood for most of it, plus Etrade, Schwab, Ameritrade, various crypto exchanges...

Fidelity isn't the prettiest, but gets the job done with less-no fees. Etrade charges a lot of fees. Robinhood has the best UI, at least on mobile, but also sells all your trading info.

What do you mean when you say Etrade has a lot of fees?

Only fees I've encountered are when buying some junky penny stock or for a stock split. 99% of my trades have been free.
No complaints in general with Etrade but TBH, I haven't tried others

    What fees?

I have a few things left in Robinhood, mostly use ETrade, and Coinbase for cyrpto.

Fidelity is who I bank with as well, so it's nice seeing all my money in one dashboard.

Plus, they refund all ATM fees so when you're out at a "bar" and there's a $10 ATM fee, they refund it :D
