New to WERA racing with only two weekends under my belt... I want to go race at Atlanta but have never been there... Anything I need to know from parking in the infield paddock (any electric, bathrooms and good places to park a RV and trailer) to check-in/tech location and of course any track gotcha's for a novice racing an Indian FTR? I am also thinking of doing the track day on Friday with N2 to get some time around the track before race weekend.
There is some power there. It is not everywhere, and last time I heard, it sometimes varies in being full strength. Bathroom building is on the hill with the shelf paddock section, or port-os, or bathroom building across the bridge toward the Paddock Grill. Registration is in the building in the center of the paddock, with tech in-front of it. This link is to a track map on Road Atlanta's page. https://www.roadatlanta.com/track-info/about-mrra/track-map
More about the event. Schedules are posted on this page here: https://www.wera.com/schedule/?x=1098 a few weeks before the event, and usually before pre-entry closes. Just looked, and the schedule for the upcoming Road Atlanta event, is mostly right. The lunch/quiet time for Sunday will be 10am - noon, due to county ordinance. That usually means there will be two rounds of practice on Saturday, and only one round of practice on Sunday.
bring a generator... there will be plenty of real estate in the lower paddock. There are showers & restrooms on the backside of the tower. Can be walked pretty easy. There is also a restroom on the paddock side that requires a lil climbing.
Thanks for all the info... I called the track and they said they usually open up for events about 5pm the evening before.
We do it when we can and/or it's going to be a stupid huge event we know about with enough time to try and schedule officials. But as with racers most of them work and can't get there until later.
i was in the last two races that got cancelled from the rain. couldnt hear much as i was dealing with damage caused from the downpour. do we get credits for next year? was highside the only photographer last weekend, or are there others?
yes, and yes. If you are going to be at the GNF, you can use the credits there too. There was another photographer there, but I don't remember her name.
