Died on Dec 7th...... Appropriate even in death. What he witnessed in his lifetime, will never be experienced by people such as us.
Ah shucks, I'm all out of Beemans, can I borrow a stick? WWII, Korea, rocket planes....the quintessential right stuff. RIP.
Broken ribs? If only. The fucker broke the barrier with a broken collar bone! His auto-biography is a must read!
All kidding asides, I carry a pack of Beemans's in every one of my back packs for good luck. He spoke at my school ages ago and I was more star struck by him than any sports or movie personality that I may ever meet. Legend isn't a strong enough word.
One truely fearless guy who is an American hero. Get up there Chuck and show those celestial wimps how it's done. RIP.....God speed. !!
Having been in the aerospace biz for a while, I've been fortunate enough to get to meet and/or hear speak a large number of amazing (and occasionally famous) folks. Even got to work with a few. Unfortunately, never crossed paths with Gen. Yeager. Too bad, as he was a big hero of mine and occasional inspiration. I remember reading about him still flying F-15s at an advanced age. Seems a bit off to say "rest in peace" about somebody like that, but RIP anyhow...
