Hello, I recently put rearset foot controls on my Norton Commando 750. There is now less distance between the pegs, brake lever, and shift lever so I'm having trouble getting my steel toe work boot (I'm no city boy) in between it all. That plus there is a bit less leverage with the shifter and brake levers than there was with the factory controls. Can anyone please recommend a riding boot that is slimmer (vertically) than a work boot, has a stiff sole to apply firm pressure to the levers, isn't low quality, but also costs less than $300 or so? I really don't care how comfortable they are to walk in because I'll use them only for riding. Thanks!
Your best bet is to just work your way through the offerings at Revzilla, add the ones you like the look of to your cart. Once you get through everything, then, go through the boots in your cart, reading the reviews, deleting what you don’t like. Eventually, you’ll get narrowed down to the one to buy. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle-boots
I’ve had a great time with my TCX ones. Been durable and very comfortable. These are discontinued, I think, but I’d buy TCX again. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/tcx-rush-wp-boots?sku_id=1155076
I love my TCX’s. Wear them on street rides on the supermoto or sport tourer and wore them yesterday all day at a track day. They run much wider than average boots which is awesome for someone like me.
TCX used to be Oxtar and I love everything they make... I still have a pair of race boots with Ti sliders in my closet. I using these now and they're great. http://blog.revzilla.com/2017/09/tcx-vibe-wp-boots.html Looks like this model is the most similar in the current lineup https://www.tcxboots.com/us/en/r04d-wp-mens-waterproof-motorcyce-shoes---black-20177T9511W001.html
I have the early model of these. Lots of rain riding, miles of walking around, even hiked in them and they are still in great shape. Crash tested as well Also have the RT track boots.
For street, track, and dirt I like Alpine Stars. Well made, good support for repair, well designed and very comfortable for me. Street: SMX S, Track: Supertech R, Dirt: Tech series
If you have Man Size Feet they are in stock here https://www.sportbiketrackgear.com/tcx-rush-wp-riding-shoes-limited-sizes/
I have 2 pairs of these. I initially bought the first pair as a interim boot to use on the Supermoto b/c that stock pegs absolutely chew through racing boots. They are built to a price point, but are comfortable and they feel good on the bike. The insoles are total trash so just plan on using insoles from your favorites sneakers or a new pair of insoles in these boots once you get them. For the money, in my experience, they're a great option. https://www.sportbiketrackgear.com/rst-tractech-evo-iii-sport-ce-boots/
He said not as tall as a work boot. I don't understand the love for the Supertechs. They're more like motocross boots than roadrace boots to me.
I had some older ones. I like the concept of an inner bootie with laces, but the outer shell was so bulky it hung up on stuff.
I tried them on once and I was like wtf do people see in them. Test sitting on the bike I couldn't get my foot under the shifter. I used to fit into Sidi until they changed the width of their boot. I am rocking Gaerne and loving them so far. I've also tried on the Forma boots and they seem to be ok height wise at the toe box.
